5 Website Tips for More Holiday Sales
In this post, I'm walking you through 5 website tips to increase your holiday sales this season! If you're looking for more tips on how to prep for increased holiday sales this season in other areas of your brand, check out last week's blog post, "5 Steps to Increase Sales this Holiday Season."
Tip 1: Update your website copy with holiday-themed phrases
Ok, let's start with a fun one - holiday-themed sales copy. For this one think phrases like, "Sleigh the day" or simply, "Give the gift of luxury this holiday season". The point here is to highlight the holiday sale or promotion you're running this season and entice the viewer to make a purchase within the holiday time frame. Your customers are already on a deadline during the holiday season as most strive to get gifts wrapped and under the tree by Christmas morning. However, by using holiday-themed sales language, you're communicating that this sale is special and for a limited time only. This may even be the best deal you run on your products all year round. Make sure to let your website visitors know that!

Tip 2: Update your website photos with holiday-themed product shots
Next, it's time to take your products and have a holiday-themed photoshoot. You can outsource this or DIY, but please, for the sake of your sales, have holiday-themed photos. These special product shots will add to the festive feeling of your website and, in turn, better your customer's emotional experience while shopping. I think we can all agree that more than ever, emotional purchases happen around the holidays, so make your website somewhere your customers want to be. Add to the joy and fun of their holiday shopping experience by showcasing your products in holiday settings.
Now, you don't need to stick with the traditional red and green color scheme if that's not right for your brand. Instead, opt for gold and silver accents or even white and black for a luxurious winter wonderland feel. Get creative!

Tip 3: Highlight your holiday promotion on multiple pages throughout your website
Now, this is a big one! Once you've gathered your holiday sales copy and product photos, it's time to really make the most of it. Don't limit yourself to just your homepage, sprinkle the updated copy and photos across multiple pages of your eCommerce website. For example, use them to create festive website banners to sit at the top of every product category page. Consider replacing the year-round product photos with festive ones. Even add your new photos and copy to your pop-up opt-in forms.
Go through your website and look for ways to increase the visibility of your holiday promotions so they aren't missed.
Tip 4: Promote holiday sales through special product categories
Another great way to increase the visibility of your holiday promotions is to add special product categories to your shop pages. Consider adding in sections like "For Him", "For Her", "For Mom/Dad" etc. Put yourself in your customers' shoes and ask, "What would I be looking for? Who would I be shopping for? What would make finding the perfect gift easier?".
Other section ideas could include, "Gifts under $20" or "Stocking Stuffers". You could also add sections for limited-time-only products or bundles that you only sell during the holiday season.
Tip 5: Add a gift guide section to your website shop or blog
In addition to or as an alternative to adding special product categories, you can add a gift guide to your blog! This is a great place to go into more detail and walk your customers through how to find the perfect gift. You could pose questions or create a quick quiz to guide them to the right product!
Again, think about who your customer might be shopping for if not themselves and have options for each. Or, if you'd prefer to take a different approach, organize your gift guide by budget size! Have options for those looking for small stocking stuffers all the way to large gift bundles!
You know your customers best so choose the best gift guide format for their unique wants and needs this gift-giving season.
