How to Prepare for Your Brand Design Project with WildHive Studio
Investing in professional brand design is an exciting stage of owning a business! Here are some tips for how you can best prepare for your project with me at WildHive Studio using the questions I get the most!
Do I need to know my brand name before we start?
Not necessarily! I can certainly help guide you in choosing a name for your business and have done so for a few projects in the past. However, please keep in mind that it will be your responsibility to run the name through a trademark website or to hire a trademark attorney to ensure that the name options you like most are available. Then, if you choose, you can go ahead and trademark your new business name!
Essentially, think of me as your strategist for the naming process. I will provide options based on your brand’s strategy specifically your target audience, price-point, brand vision/style, and competitor analysis. All of these details can empower us to find a name that really resonates with your future customers.
Do you want to see my mood board?
Yes! Personally, I love when clients come to me with a mood board or Pinterest board to share their vision. It can be challenging to explain your vision in words, so seeing examples of other brands you look up to is always helpful. The brands can be inside or outside of your own industry. There really are no limitations on what can or can’t go on your inspiration board. I like to see it all!
If you don’t have an inspiration board, don’t worry. That’s something I can put together after the brand strategy call.
However, if you want to start planning, here are some tips on how to get started:
Check out websites like Pinterest, Behance, and Dribble for high-quality inspiration
As you shop for products, save the names of brands and websites you like. This could even be their social media presence.
Specifically, pay attention to details like fonts and colors. Save any visuals that you find to be captivating.
When we work together, we can go through any inspiration you have and see which elements align with your brand’s strategy (A.k.a. Which elements are most likely to attract customers).
How do I know who my ideal audience is?
This is something we will dive into during your brand strategy session, but it’s always helpful to think about this ahead of time. Consider who is the most likely person to buy your products and what they might like about your products.
Ask yourself questions like:
Are they more so male or female?
What age range do they fall into?
What problem is my product solving for them?
Why will they start looking for my product or something similar?
Where do they live? Are they in suburbia or are they city-dwellers?
What do they do for fun?
What career fields are they in?
What’s most likely to be their income level?
What other brands and stores do they purchase products from?
What do they care about most when it comes to making a purchase - price, experience, convenience, etc?
You can also survey your friends, family members, and peers if they seem like they fall into your target audience category. Talking to people in real life is always helpful when gathering research about your target audience.
How long does the process take?
My fully custom brand design service takes about 4 weeks to complete so please plan accordingly. If you need a faster turn-around time, I also offer Brand Design Intensives where I design your brand in just one day. This is a lite version of my fully custom service and doesn’t dive into strategy. Instead, it focuses on developing a professional set of visuals for your brand to get off the ground such as your logo, color palette, and font suite.
