How to Prepare for Your Website Design Project with WildHive Studio

Here’s a quick guide on how to prep for your website project with me at WildHive Studio! I’ve split it up into 2 categories:

  1. When we’re doing a website refresh

  2. When you need a brand new or first-ever website!

Let’s dive in!

When you need a refresh of your current website:

First, take a look at your current website and do an assessment. These details will be handy when we discuss your website more in-depth during your kick-off strategy call. While browsing your website, ask yourself:

  • What is my main goal with my website? (This could be things like increasing conversions, building your email list, or raising awareness about your product or how to use your product)

  • What about my website do I like?

  • What do I think is currently working to help me achieve my website goals?

  • What do I think might be preventing me from achieving my goals?

    • For example, if your goal is to sell more wholesale products but the wholesale page is hard to find on your website, then that would be standing in the way of you reaching your goal.

  • What are the analytics saying?

    • If you have Google Analytics or another analytics software but don’t know how to read the data, I can help! Just bring it up during our introductory call.

Consider your branding

  • Do you like your current branding or will you be needing a brand refresh?

  • Does your branding reflect the quality of your products and price point?

  • Check out this post on preparing for a brand design project for more information.

Consider the copywriting

  • Do you need new copywriting?

  • Are you comfortable writing it yourself or need a professional to help?

Assess the Product and Brand Photography

  • Are you happy with your current brand and product photography?

  • Will you be taking new photos or outsourcing a photoshoot?

Final Details

  • What pages do you need? Any new pages?

  • What is the desired launch date of your new website?

    • Websites typically take 4 weeks, but I also offer Design Intensives for businesses looking for a faster solution.

When you need a brand new website:

First, consider your goals:

  • What are you hoping to accomplish with your new website?

  • Will this be the main point of sale or will you be selling at a physical location?

Do you need branding?

  • Do you already have a fully designed brand identity?

    • This would include 2-3 logos, a color palette, and a font suite at the bare minimum.

Will you Need Copywriting Assistance?

  • Will you be writing your own website copywriting? For many e-commerce businesses this is mostly your Homepage, About page, and product descriptions.

  • Or, do you need professional copywriting assistance?

Is your Brand & Product Photography Complete?

  • You will need to have photos to use on your website before the website design process can begin. This should include brand photos (lifestyle photos of product in use) and product photography.

What pages do you need?

  • Standard eCommerce websites include the following pages: Home, About, Contact, Collection, Product, Checkout, Policies.

  • Will you need additional pages like an affiliate page, blog, or any informational pages to educate your audience?

Timeline

  • What is the desired launch date of your new website?

    • Websites typically take 4 weeks, but I also offer Design Intensives for businesses looking for a faster solution. Learn more below!
