WildHive Studio’s Packaging Design Process

Overview:

At WildHive, I specialize in branding, packaging, and web design for product-based business owners looking for a timeless, minimal, and strategic approach. I help my clients stand out in their over-crowded markets, connect deeply with their customer base, and increase conversions.

We’ve all been guilty of buying something simply because the packaging was THAT good. We want the item because it makes us feel a certain way or would effortlessly fit into our aesthetic.

Now imagine that you get that way every time you looked at your own products packaging. Where your products consistently make you think “dang, anyone would be lucky to have such a beautiful thing!”

NOW imagine that your customers felt the same way. In fact, they love your product packaging sooo much that they show their friends, family, and followers on social media.

That is the goal we strive for when it comes to designing packaging for our clients. We aim to make each piece

✨memorable 🥲 emotional 🤳 and shareable!

Branding and packaging typically go hand in hand. Here’s how the joint design process works:

00 // Before we get started

After you sign your contract + pay your first installment, I'll send over a link where you can schedule our strategy workshop call together and start working on a few simple onboarding tasks.

During the call, we'll be talking about your business goals, your audience, how you want to make them feel, and all the things that set your business apart from the rest.

01 // Strategy & Creative Direction

We'll outline your project goals, ways to connect with your audience, and visual inspiration to guide us through the design process in your Brand Strategy Guide. I'll use the strategy to come up with your creative direction. This step helps us make sure we're on the same page before I start sketching logo ideas.

02 // First Concepts

I'll present 2-3 of my strongest concepts for the logo suite, each one highlighting a different aspect of your strategy. From here, we'll narrow it down to 1 concept that you envision connecting the most with your audience.

03 // Refinement

At this stage, I'll present refined versions of the concept that you chose and dive deeper to explore color and typography. This is where we'll really try to envision how each concept would work on your products, website, packaging, etc. to figure out which one makes the strongest impact. If we still need to make refinements, we can. Otherwise, we'll select the final direction to move forward with.

04 // Packaging

Now that we have a final direction for the brand’s visual identity, we will dive deeper into how this brand looks on your product packaging. We try the branding on multiple product shapes, sizes, labels and boxes to ensure the visual identity’s versatility. We will make final refinements to the visual identity if needed during this stage.

05 // Brand Guide & Final Files

With the visual identity complete and tested, I’ll put everything together in a detailed guide on how to use your brand consistently, intentionally, and strategically. This serves as a great tool to pass on to your marketing team to make sure your brand continues to be represented in a cohesive way.
